- Designated by Professional Engineers of Ontario as a licensed Professional Engineer in 1992
- Designated as a Registered Home Inspector by the Ontario Association of Home Inspectors in 1996
- Senior Inspector at Carson, Dunlop & Associates Ltd. from 1990 to 2000. Duties included:
- Inspecting over 5,000 residential and commercial buildings of various descriptions and reporting on conditions of major systems including structure, building envelope and mechanical systems, Specific Problem Investigations, and Pre-Renovation Inspections
- Technical contributor to the Home Study System comprehensive inspection training program
- Technical research and technical writing
- Technical presentations, including at the CAHPI National Conference
